Visit Lauzerte

On the occasion of the European Days of Crafts , I invited Tarn-Et-Garonne Tourism to visit Lauzerte . Lauzerte is a magnificent 12th century village perched in the Quercy Blanc . This bastide is also on the way to Saint-Jacques-De-Compostelle. Listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France since 1990, Lauzerte is really worth visiting if you are spending a weekend in the Tarn-Et-Garonne!

Lauzerte is located approximately 1h30 from Toulouse. The round trip is then possible on the same day. That day, leaving Toulouse, Saturday morning, the sky was extremely gray and it was snowing! This day to discover Lauzerte took place however at the beginning of April. But remember at the beginning of April 2022, a snowy episode arrived in France. Despite this incredibly wintry weather, we begin the visit of Lauzerte.

We then begin the visit of Lauzerte by the famous Place des Cornières. This square is central in the village, and remains a place of meeting and markets. You will also find the tourist office and a few cafes there!

It is also on this square that the raised corner is located! Made in 1988  by the famous Jacques Buchholtz, it is not the only work of the famous ceramist in the village. In particular, there is a model of the village of Lauzerte in the garden of the town hall.

Lauzerte is a city of art, which has the city and craftsmanship label. We then take advantage of the afternoon to visit some workshops. Indeed, if you look at the wall details of the city, you will see many wrought iron details.

There are also many details in the village; in particular the doors are in the shape of an ogive. A drawing of Captain Haddock is also present on a house window. Would you be able to discover it during your visit?

Finally, we are leaving with the famous Lauzerte macaroons , the secret of which dates back to the 11th century!

What to do around Lauzerte?

There are superb villages to visit in the Tarn-Et-Garonne. You can then go and visit Auvillar, Moissac, Bruniquel. You can also visit the  La Ferme de Lacontal in Touffailles, as well as Montpezat-de-Quercy. Do not hesitate to look at the blog article on the subject.

If you are looking to stay for a weekend, or a few days, you can also stay at The Happy Hamlet , in Fauroux, a few kilometers away in Quercy.
